Angus Scotland & England Suite Of 3 Large Gunn Library Legal Stacking Bookcases

  
Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this very rare circa 1910 suite of three Legal stacking bookcases with lead lined glass made by Gunn in solid oak and with all original solid brass Angus of Scotland & England locks. This is an exceptionally rare find, firstly if you are not familiar with stacking bookcases each section can be removed or added to suit your needs, you can see the bookcases all perfectly in line but if you had a smaller space to fit them, you simply remove one section, if you dont need or want the drawers or cupboard piece just take it out, if you want them for under a staircase in a sloping formation then away you go, that is the wonder of these pieces, it takes a few minutes only and youre done. These bookcases were made for solicitors offices, I have never in all my time seen the drawers as part of the set as well as the cupboard. Its also rare to find them with the full six sections per piece and with the lead lined glass, these almost never come up for sale as they are the most traditional and as such collectable. The sale includes five book spacers which you can see in the top two rows, these can be removed but they are for keeping your smaller books to the front, so they stay in line with the larger books, a nice little idea and again I have never seen them before.

The sections come in three sizes, the first glazed row are 39cm high, the next two are 33.5cm and the top three rows are 29cm high, all external measurements. Width:- 87cm, total width 261cm.
