Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this. Lovely circa 1880 fully stamped Howard & Son's Berners Street Pollard Oak serving or dining table. An exceptionally fine table presented in one of the greatest timbers ever used during the Victorian era, Pollard oak and hand crafted by the world-famous Howard & Son's. The table has on the inside leg, the original Howard & Son's Berners Street stamp, it also has the very rare remanets of the paper label to the underside. This table would have originally been designed as a serving table so you would have sat it against a wall in a grand dining room, the dishes would had been set on this table and then "served" to the main table. Alternatively, it would have sat behind a sofa in a living area for the same function, the snacks sandwiches and tea would have been laid out here.

For modern purposes it will most likely be used as a very functional dining table, it can comfortably seat eight in style. We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will go good honest patina marks here and there from honest age and genuine use. The timber is in very fine order. Under table height:- 64.5cm.
