Oak Framed Ledged External Door - Custom Size Exterior Door. These are traditional external solid timber framed and ledged doors, hand made in the UK using a select grade of wood. Each door is hand made to your required size, with all of the components manufactured on our state of the art CNC machinery so you get a superb heavyweight external door that adds real class and character to any home and lasts a lifetime at a sensible price. You can specify any height and width up to 950mm wide by 2100mm high.

We rebate the two leaves to fit together and supply the door with 2 solid weather bars. The doors are made from solid oak however the flat panels used are cross laminated with an oak veneer. The cross lamination is to ensure the door is more stable and has much more reduced risks of movement than a door made with 100% solid oak. Please contact our sales team for further details.

Each door features closed-cell foam sealing strips between each board to create a weatherproof door. We offer the Framed and Ledged external door in 2 manufacturing options, either oak with an engineered core, or accoya. Our engineered oak door is our most competitively priced door and also meets the requirements of UK Building Regulations Part L. The door has an overall U value of 1.0 w/M2K. A specific value can be provided where the customer chooses the doorset option but in almost all cases would pass the required 1.4w/M2k.

The door is manuactured with a hardwood cross laminated core, with oak veneer face and oak lippings. Perfect for either painting or staining. Accoya doors use a specially treated timber and are ideal for severe weather applications, where your door is likely to be subjected to direct wind driven rain. FRAMED AND LEDGED DOOR FINISHING. Please select our high performance multi stage finish for a 5 year guarantee. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee unfinished doors for problems caused by moisture ingress as we cannot control the quality of finish, and this is a crucial element in the performance of your door. When you choose our pre-finishing service your door will undergo an extensive multistage process that results in a finish that cannot be replicated by on site finishing.

Your new door will be finished where appropriate in component form, meaning that all surfaces of the door are thoroughly sealed, even those that are hidden once the door is assembled. For doorsets, all hardware is fitted, then removed to ensure that all areas underneath hardware receive the same thorough finish. Firstly, the door is end grained sealed using a special sealant product, which dramatically reduces moisture uptake. The second stage is an industrial primer coat and pore sealer helping to equalise colour variation. Finally 2 top coats are applied which create a high performance finish which protects against weathering, UV degradation, mould and fungal attack. Between each coat the door is sanded and inspected. If you choose to have your door unfinished, when you receive the door it should be checked for fit. We cannot overstate how important it is to properly finish timber external doors to provide satisfactory service. All timber will expand and contract as it gains and loses moisture. That's why your door can take on moisture and expand in winter weather. Thoroughly finishing the door will slow this movement to a minimum. It is extremely common to find timber doors that have not been finished properly, almost always in difficult to reach places such as underneath the door. Even with thorough finishing often timber doors can require minor planing in the first couple of seasons. The frame is fitted with a quality weather seal and the cill is prefitted with an aluminium threshold with rubber sealing strip.
